Who are the Dellybears?

THE BIG DELLYBEARS:

Hi my name is Adele, I am a registered childminder rated "Good" by Ofsted. I have been childminding since 2013 although I have experience of working with children of differing ages and abilites within a primary school setting for over 17 years prior to this.  The experience I gained from working within a school setting has been invaluable in allowing me to set up Dellybears, giving me the knowledge and understanding of how a child learns and develops.  It also allowed me the opportunity to work with children who have required additional support with their learning including those with autism, dyslexia, dispraxia and down syndrome.

I run Dellybears along with my husband Mark, Gemma and Aimee work with us We are all DBS checked and hold current paediatric first aid certificates.

Mark and I have two grown-up children ourselves and they generally like to be involved with the children within our care.  Together we offer a very friendly, welcoming and warm service which focuses on making sure that everyone of all ages within our care is looked after to the best of our abilities.

We have two labradors and a cat who are all friendly and like to be handled and played with when they can be found!

BABYBEARS:

We refer to the children 0-1 years old as the "Babybears" these are the children who fall into the EYFS category under Ofsted.

 Little DELLYBEARS:

We refer to the children 1-4 years old as the "Little Dellybears" these are the children who fall into the EYFS category under Ofsted.

DELLYBEARS:

We refer to the children 4-8 years old as the "Dellybears" these are the children who attend school.

DBEARS:

We refer to the children 8+ years old as the "Dbears", something which the younger children seem to look forward to becoming!

THE BEARBUS:

We have a 9 seater minibus which both Mark, Gemma and I are insured and registered to drive, and it has been affectionatly nicknamed the Bearbus.

Having the Bearbus allows us the opportunity to not only collect and drop off from schools, it also allows us to go on regular outings with upto 7 children at a time which works especially well in the school holidays when we are able to take them on outings to places such as the beach, parks, farms, soft play, castles, places of interest, and museums. There is nothing better than packing a picnic, piling into the Bearbus and setting off on a new adventure.  Some of our favourite places to visit have included, Gibside, Tynemouth Castle and beach, Cragside, Wallington Hall, Souter lighthouse and Marsden Grotto, and of course Saltwell Park.
